The NWCA Announces the NCAA Women’s National Wrestler of the Month for November

MANHEIM, PA – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced their first women’s wrestling National Wrestler of the Month for this season. It was the same as the final recipient last spring. Yelena Makoyed of North Central College earns the distinction for the second time, taking home the first national award of the 2022-23 season.

Makoyed earned regional for the third time earlier this week and now winning the national award for the second time. At 170 pounds, Makoyed is 15-0, taking six wins against ranked foes, six wins by pin, and eight more by technical fall. All her matches have ended in the first period, and she is yet to be scored this season. She took home titles from the Pointer Open and the Adrian Invitational. Makoyed defeated Augsburg University’s Ashley Lekas, then fourth-ranked, 11-0 before Lekas went on to win the highly competitive Missouri Valley Open.
