Pittsburgh Classic Announces USA All-Star Team Line-Up and Weight Class Change Explanation

Weigh Class Change Explanation

Pittsburgh, PA – Each year brings a new set of circumstances and challenges when trying to assemble the Nation’s and Pennsylvania’s best wrestlers. In the best interest of the event and the goal to provide the fans with the best senior high school wrestlers, the local organizing committee decided to drop the 113 lbs. and 285 lbs. weight classes and replace them with two 138 lbs. and 195 lbs. weights for the 13 individual matches.

Due to the lack of top tier high school seniors in Pennsylvania and/or USA in certain weight classes and an overabundance in other weights are the primary factors that drove this difficult decision. The wrestling fans enjoy seeing both the smallest and the largest weight class compete, but the emphasis on showcasing the best wrestlers in the state and country was a critical factor in the decision. The decision was not made lightly, and the committee will enter next year with a plan for each weight class.

Tickets are available at the three outlets and available online at:

  • Wright Automotive in Allegheny County on Route 19 in Wexford, PA.
  • Canon McMillan High School in Washington, County.
  • Franklin Regional High School in Westmoreland County.
