NWCA Tabs Regner as Director of Coaching Development

Manheim, PA – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) is excited to announce the hire of Kerry Regner. NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer has named Regner the association’s new Director of Coaching Development.

It is a great pleasure to welcome Coach Kerry Regner as our new NWCA Coaching Development Director. Coach Regner is a terrific transformational wrestling coach. His impressive scholastic and collegiate coaching background will significantly benefit the NWCA member coaches that we serve and support across the nation. In particular, his familiarity and extraordinary success with getting start-up college programs off the ground and securing healthy rosters at enrollment-driven colleges will serve the NWCA well as we launch 25 to 35 new men’s and women’s college teams each year.       -Mike Moyer, NWCA Executive Director

Regner comes to the NWCA from Millersville University following a successful four-year stint that saw the school’s first national champion in 39 years. While at Millersville, Regner also coached six national qualifiers and four All-Americans.

Before his time at Millersville, Regner served as the inaugural head coach at Williams Baptist University, where he built a program from nothing and quickly made it a Top-25 NAIA program. Regner led his squad to a 4th place finish at the national championships in only the third year of the program. While at WBU, Regner qualified 25 wrestlers for the national tournament and had six All-Americans, including a national champion.

Regner holds a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Northern Michigan University and a master’s degree in mass media and journalism from Clarion University. He and his wife Sarah, a Mental Health Therapist, and their three children, Jack (6), Liam (5), and Lucy (1), make their home in Millersville, PA.

STATMENT FROM KERRY REGNER:

My family and I are grateful for this opportunity from Mike Moyer and the NWCA. Over the last decade, I have developed a wonderful relationship with Mike, and I am confident in his vision and the NWCA mission. The NWCA and Mike have brought a resurgence to all levels of wrestling, and I could not be more ready to join the cause. I am forever indebted to the sport of wrestling and the coaches I have had throughout my life. It is exciting to be given such a unique opportunity to come alongside with both the sport of wrestling and coaches at the NWCA.
