NWCA Announces Bob Bubb Coaching Excellence Award Winner

Manheim, PA – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced Jason Ramstetter of Adams State University as the 2022 Bob Bubb Coaching Excellence Award winner for NCAA Division II men’s wrestling.

“I’ve grown up in wrestling and I knew Bob Bubb as a coach, so this is truly an honor to me,” Ramstetter said. “It is an honor and a great award that goes to you as a person as well as a coach, so I am very appreciative and humbled by this award.”

Ramstetter, who has been at the head of the Grizzlie wrestling program for 21 years,  has coached 10 NCAA Division II National Champions and 58 All-Americans. His program finished fifth at the 2022 NCAA Division II National Championships, behind three individual titles at 133, 149 and 157. Ramstetter was voted as the NWCA Division II National Tournament Coach of the Year, and was named the Colorado Collegiate Coach of the Year last season as well.

The Bob Bubb Coaching Excellence award is presented annually to an outstanding coach who epitomizes the qualities and characteristics of a role model and mentor for developing young student-athletes.

The finalists for each of the six super regions are listed below:

➤ Super Region 1: Seth Bloomquist, Shippensburg
➤ Super Region 2: Deral Brown, Newberry
➤ Super Region 3: Colt Sponseller, Ashland
➤ Super Region 4: James Reynolds, Drury
➤ Super Region 5: Kris Nelson, Minnesota-Moorhead
➤ Super Region 6: Jason Ramstetter, Adams State
