KEYNOTE SPEAKERS ANNOUNCED FOR NWCA VIRTUAL CONVENTION

Manheim, PA – The National Wrestling Coaches Association is excited to announce their keynote speakers for the annual NWCA Convention that will take place July 29-31.  This year, due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, the convention has been moved to the virtual platform Vconference.  Each day of the convention will feature a keynote address by Aaron Grossman, Debbie Yow, and Chris Campbell. Participants will be able to watch these sessions live or via the video archives at a later date, as the convention will be available until October 27.

Aaron Grossman | Wednesday, July 29 – 2:00 pm
Wrestlers in Business Network Co-Founder and successful entrepreneur Aaron Grossman was introduced to wrestling at the age of six. His love of the wrestling carried him to the Miami University (OH), where he competed for the RedHawks. Sadly, Miami no longer sponsors the sport of wrestling.  After graduating, Grossman would go on to found the Alliance Solutions Group and serve as CEO. In 2009 he would start a group on LinkedIn called Wrestlers In Business. This group would end up morphing into a full-fledged organization, and in November of 2018, the organization would become an operating division of the National Wrestling Coaches Association.  Today, WIBN has over 20 chapters across the country, with many more launching. In 2016 Aaron founded TalentLaunch, a network of independently operated staffing and recruitment companies, and serves as CEO.  He currently resided in Aurora, OH, with his wife Giana and their five children.

Debbie Yow | Thursday, July 30 – 2:00 pm
Serving as a trailblazer for women in college athletics, Debbie Yow spent nine years as the Director of Athletics at NC State, a Division I institution from the power-five Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Debbie started her career as a high school basketball coach in North Carolina before serving as the head coach at Oral Roberts University, the University of Florida, and the University of Kentucky. She then transitioned into administration, ultimately leading her to NC State. In 2012, Yow was able to hire current Wolfpack head wrestling, and outgoing NWCA President, Coach Pat Popolizio, one of the 17 coaching hires during Yow’s tenure. When talking about Yow, Popolizio said, “Debbie Yow was one of the main reasons I took this position…She’s shown that she is a big supporter of wrestling.” In 2019, Yow retired from NC State and received the John L. toner Award from the National Football Foundation. Yow is also an author having written many articles and books on human behavior and athletics management.  She is married to Dr. William W. Bowden.

Chris Campbell | Friday, July 31 – 2:00 pm
Currently serving as Senior Counsel for San Francisco based Tyson & Mendes, Campbell is no stranger to the sport of wrestling.  Having competed under legendary Dan Gable at the University of Iowa, Chris finished his collegiate career as a three-time All-American and a two-time NCAA National Champion, which at the time made him the most successful Hawkeye wrestler the school had ever seen.  Chris then transitioned into a successful freestyle career where he represented USA Wrestling and captured a World Title and Olympic Bronze Medal. Campbell is a 1979 Graduate of the University of Iowa and received his JD from Cornell University in 1987. Outside of his regular litigation practice, he occasionally serves as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”) and Court of Arbitration for Sports (“CAS”) in Olympic related disputes.

“We are so thankful for our title sponsors Cliff Keen, Defense Soap, and Resilite for all their support this Spring and Summer as we transitioned from our traditional convention that was to be hosted in Hollywood, FL to a virtual event.  Everyone involved from our sponsors, exhibitors, presenters, coaches, and staff have been amazing as we deal with the current COVID-19 Pandemic.  Without their understanding and assistance, we wouldn’t be able to make this great event happen,” exclaimed NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer. “We have so many fantastic sessions and a full slate of presenters who are nothing short of rockstars.  We expect this year’s event to surpass previous years to set a new attendance record!”

In addition to the keynote addresses, the convention will offer over 60 hours of presentations, panel discussions, and forums as well as NCAA (DI/DII/DIII/Women), NAIA (Men/Women), NJCAA Business Sessions. Through a partnership with the United States Sports Academy, attendees will also be able to purchase 2 hours of CEU Credits.

This year the convention will feature a virtual Exhibition Hall where attendees can connect with exhibitors at their booth and schedule one-on-one meetings or communicate via the built-in chat feature.  Exhibitors attending this year are Adidas Wrestling/Outer Circle Sports, Arms Software, Barbarian Apparel, Boost Promotions, Coaches Insider, Cliff Keen, College Wrestler Recruiting Defense Soap, Dollamur, EarSplintz, Edward Jones Investments, Ekin Nutrition, Hasty Awards, Inbody, MatBoss, MyHOUSE Sports Gear, NCWA Gear, Pittsburgh Trophy, Rack Performance, Resilite, ShotSled, SkyMD, SportsClean Solutions, Trackwrestling, Wrestlers in Business Network, Wrestling Mart.
