Manheim, PA – First Time Opponents, Dominique Parrish, and Gabriela Ramos-Diaz, face off in the NWCA All-Star Classic.
Dominique Parrish returns to her second straight All-Star Classic after she beat Amber Pair from Eastern Oregon. The Scotts Valley native who attends Simon Fraser has been nothing less than successful her whole career. Parrish, who holds a 91-11 career record, and is the defending WCWA National Champion, hopes kick to off her season with a bang and retain her title. The three-time All-American recently competed in USA Wrestling’s Team Trials, in which she did not give up a single point and advanced to compete at the U23 World Championships, set for Bydgoszcz, Poland, November 21-26. Her first test comes against returning All-American Gabriela Ramos-Diaz.
Gabriela Ramos-Diaz, hailing from Carolina, Puerto Rico, comes into her first ever NWCA All-Star Classic with a winning mentality. This is her first-year wrestling at 123 pounds. As a Freshman, Ramos-Diaz pulled off a 26-2 record and earned a 3rd place finish at the WCWA National Championships at the 116-pound weight class. Ramos-Diaz was a 2016 and 2017 member of the Junior World Team for Puerto Rico and competed in the Central American and Caribbean Games in July. She hopes to move up from her 3rd place finish, by starting the year off taking down the defending National Champion.
Both Parrish and Ramos-Diaz come into the 2018-19 season as the best of the best at 123 pounds. This marquee matchup has the opportunity to be a preview of what could transpire at the 123-pound bracket, during the 2019 WCWA National Championships.
