COREY RUFF TABBED AS UNIVERSITY OF THE CUMBERLANDS MEN’S WRESTLING COACH

Williamsburg, KY – University of the Cumberlands Athletic Director Chris Kraftick has announced that Corey Ruff has been named the new Patriots Men’s Wrestling Head Coach Monday afternoon. Ruff becomes the sixth coach to lead the program, replacing Jordan Countryman, who stepped down earlier this summer.
“We are thrilled to have Coach Ruff take the helm of our men’s wrestling program,” said Kraftick. “Corey brings a wealth of knowledge of wrestling both at the MSC and NAIA levels as well as a history of success to Williamsburg. We are excited to about the future and direction of the men’s wrestling program.”
Ruff comes to UC after spending 12 years on the sidelines at MSC rival Lindsey Wilson College. Ruff has led the Blue Raiders program since its inception in the 2009-2010 season and has compiled a 110-59 overall record, including a 46-12 mark in conference duals. He has led the Blue Raiders to eight top-five finishes at the NAIA National Championship.
“I’m excited about getting to know this team, the bar is already set high and this team is a really good squad,” said Ruff. “One of my goals is to provide enthusiasm, stability, and integrity within the program and I felt like this opportunity was a perfect fit for my family, myself and Cumberlands’ wrestling.”
Under Ruff, Lindsey Wilson has thrived at the conference level capturing seven Mid-South Conference regular-season titles and three MSC Tournament Championship, including capturing both during the 2020-2021 season. Coach Ruff’s has coached five MSC Wrestler of the Year, three MSC Freshman of the Year honors as well. He has been named the Mid-South Conference Coach of the Year five times, including garnering 45 All Mid-South Conference honorees.
As a coach, Ruff has also seen success at the national level. He raised the Blue Raiders as one of the top teams in the NAIA claiming two NAIA National Runner-Up finishes in 2017 and 2019. In his 12 seasons at Lindsey Wilson, eight years Ruff led the team to top-five finishes. He coached nine NAIA National Champions and the 2021 NAIA Wrestler of the Year in Brandon Reed. 52 of Ruff’s wrestlers have earned All-American honors showcasing his ability to excel on the national stage.
Cumberlands is coming off a 5-2 dual meet record, including a 3-1 record in conference duals. The Patriots closed out the season place tenth at the 2021 NAIA National Championships.
